Vehivavy matanjaka (pronounced vey-vah-vee mah-tahn-zah-kah) means “powerful women” in Malagasy (the native language of Madagascar). Project Vehivavy Matanjaka (PVM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing poverty and promoting development in Madagascar by empowering underprivileged girls and women through education.
Iavy
Iavy (pronounced Yah-vee) is 19 years old and currently in 11th grade. Iavy first came to us in 2007 seeking assistance with school fees. Her devotion to her studies is largely responsible for the creation of PVM.
